Lourdes School Quezon City traces its humble beginnings to St. Francis of Assisi who followed the poor and crucified Christ and loved humanity and all creations so deeply, that he is known as “one of the beloved of all the saints”. This charism of St. Francis impelled the Order of the Friars Minor Capuchin (OFM Cap.) to preach and labor among the people, rich and poor, learned and unlearned

We take a trip down memory lane to commemorate 166 years since Our Lady of Lourdes first appeared to Saint Bernadette Soubirous, after all, if you were informed that the grotto of Our Lady has been there for the previous 19 years? Or maybe down history lane?
Of course, the story of Our Lady of Lourdes is well known to all Lourdesianians, if not all Catholic Filipinos. Our Lady made the decision to appear to a little, impoverished, illiterate girl on February 11, 1858, in a small, unrecognized town in southwest France. The first of eighteen apparitions of a "Lady" who would subsequently reveal herself as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception would occur to 14-year-old Bernadette.
But what about the history of our own grotto?
In 2005, In honor of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Lourdes School in Quezon City in 1955, Rev. Fr. Armando C. Baraan, OFMCap, had the grotto constructed.
According to some witnesses, a CCTV camera on the specific area where the grotto currently stands captured an odd silhouette and a bright light when preparations were being made for the school's golden jubilee. Therefore, Fr. Rector of the school at the time, was in favor of creating the Blessed Virgin Mary grotto there.
Arch. Santos-Viola, was in charge of its design, and Mrs. Corales is still in charge of its landscaping.
