2018 LSQC ICT Competition – Elementary Level

 Contest Rules and Mechanics

  1. The 2018 LSQC ICT Contest is open to all private and public elementary schools.
  1. Participants should be either Grade 5 or 6 students. There will only be one (1) participant for each of the following skill-related categories:

           Microsoft Excel

Student participant is expected to provide proper excel formulas and create charts.

          Microsoft PowerPoint

Student participant must be able to demonstrate skills in proper use of animations and transitions to effectively tell a story using a PowerPoint presentation and to create a kiosk linking to other slides.

          Basic Web Designing using Notepad/Notepad ++ (HTML)

Student participant must be able to create a web page according to global standards.

  1. The contest organizer will provide all necessary files for the contest (references/ photos, and other information to be used for the competition).
  1. The contest will run for an hour for each category.
  1. Contestants are strictly prohibited from using the Internet to download information during the contest proper.
  1. Participating teams must be at the contest venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
  1. The three (3) highest scoring contestants from each category will be declared as winners. In case of a tie, a clincher round ensues immediately to determine the winner.
  1. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

 

2018 LSQC Robotics Seminar/Workshop and Contest  – Elementary Level

February 7, 2018 (Wednesday)
8:00 a.m. at the LSQC Robotics Room

The seminar workshop aims to develop young minds interest in Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology. Students will have initial understanding on how to design, build and program robots, with the emphasis on team approach to problem solving in a work environment utilizing the Lego Mindstorm / EV3 Robotics kit.

General Guidelines:

  1. The free seminar/workshop is open to all private and public elementary schools.
  1. Each school could send two participants to form as a team. Participants should be either Grade 5 or 6 students. The slots are limited to the first ten (10) registered teams.
  1. Each team will be provided with a set of Lego Mindstorm or EV3 kit to be used during the seminar workshop and contest.

 Contest Guidelines

Lego Sumo-bot wrestling is a contest where two LEGO robot contestants try to push or flip each other out of a circular ring. The first robot to touch the floor outside of the ring loses. The last robot remaining in the ring wins.

Each team will be given enough time to design and construct a robot to be used during the contest.
